Role Title: US GAAP Actuarial Analyst

Employer: Leading Life Insurance Company

Required Experience: 2–3 Years

Location: Mumbai

A Leading Life Insurance Company is seeking an analytical US GAAP Actuarial Analyst to support its international financial reporting and valuation practice. In this key financial role, you will take responsibility for calculating insurance reserves and related actuarial balances in accordance with US GAAP ASC 944 parameters. Furthermore, you will extract accurate cashflows from Prophet while ensuring strict adherence to internal controls and SOX compliance rules. Consequently, this position is crucial for providing audit-ready documentation and delivering financial statements on time.

The US GAAP Actuarial Analyst must combine disciplined working paper preparation habits with hands-on experience in mortality experience studies. Working closely with external actuarial experts and internal finance teams, you will derive updated actuarial assumptions and quantify financial impacts across accounting regimes. Therefore, the group is looking for a detail-oriented analyst who presents technical findings clearly to senior management committees. If you want to expand your actuarial valuation expertise inside a global reporting environment, this position is for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Calculate insurance reserves and actuarial balances in strict compliance with US GAAP ASC 944 standards.
  • Generate accurate, consistent cashflows from Prophet models, maintaining compliance with SOX and PCAOB audit standards.
  • Prepare detailed working papers, data lineage documentation, and audit evidence for US GAAP reporting subprocesses.
  • Coordinate with external actuarial consultants to track project progress, resolve technical queries, and align valuation assumptions.
  • Deliver timely US GAAP actuarial templates, outputs, and financial analyses to the Finance team for quarterly and annual statements.
  • Conduct mortality experience studies for individual life business lines, analyzing emerging data patterns.
  • Derive updated actuarial assumptions from experience study insights and quantify financial impacts under US GAAP frameworks.
  • Prepare documentation and evidence for annual assumption-setting exercises for review by executive management and auditors.
  • Construct presentation decks and analytical summaries for governance committees and executive leadership meetings.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative branch.
  • 2-3 Years of relevant professional experience within the Life Insurance actuarial domain, preferably in reporting or valuation.
  • Cleared a minimum of 5 formal Actuarial Exams from the Institute of Actuaries of India (IAI) or IFoA.
  • Understanding of US GAAP ASC 944 concepts, Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) compliance, and PCAOB requirements.
  • Working knowledge of Prophet software, advanced MS Excel, and data visualization tools (Power Query / Power BI).
