A leading reinsurance client is seeking a qualified professional for the Manager – Financial Reporting position based in Mumbai. In this role, the successful candidate will ensure accurate and complete financial reporting in a timely manner. Furthermore, the role involves ensuring accurate accounting related to Revenue, Accounts Payable, and Fixed Assets. Consequently, this position is vital for maintaining strong internal controls and managing the month, quarter, and year-end close-down processes.
The Manager – Financial Reporting will lead and coordinate with statutory and internal auditors to ensure timely closures without escalations. Additionally, the individual will drive expense analysis and process improvements in financial reporting. Therefore, the client is looking for a Chartered Accountant with strong analytical and reconciliation skills who can independently resolve complex accounting issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate accounting related to Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, and Taxation matters.
- Manage the end-to-end month, quarter, and year-end close-down processes for the entity.
- Coordinate statutory and internal audit processes to ensure timely completion and compliance.
- Perform plan vs. actual comparisons and variance analysis for presentation to management.
- Implement and review internal controls across finance processes, including fixed asset physical verification.
- Reconcile balance sheet codes and ensure all account balances are current and accurate.
- Maintain tax compliance regarding TDS rates on expenses, GST on invoices, and IUC charges.
- Monitor future cash requirements and ensure efficient levels of funding are available.
- Ensure the accounting process remains strictly in line with established SOX Narratives.
- Drive process improvements in expense processing and participate in budgeting activities.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education and Experience
- A qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) with 3–5 years of professional work experience.
- Prior experience in Life Insurance accounting or Financial Reporting is highly preferred.
- Proven track record in managing and leading statutory audit processes effectively.
- Experience with Indian private limited company financial reporting is considered an advantage.
- Middle management experience in insurance accounting and taxation is a significant bonus.
Technical Skills and Abilities
- Deep accounting knowledge including India GAAP, Ind AS (IFRS), and US GAAP principles.
- Strong understanding of the insurance and reinsurance business domains.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard reporting tools such as Power BI.
- Excellent written and spoken English skills for effective stakeholder management.
- Knowledge of foreign exchange matters, company secretarial filings, and basic legal coordination.
- Ability to resolve complex issues independently while strictly adhering to project timelines.
