A Leading Life Insurance Company is seeking an authoritative Head – Enterprise Risk Mgmt to lead its enterprise risk management framework in Bengaluru. Reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer, you will provide independent oversight across all material risk categories and ensure strict alignment with the Board-approved Risk Appetite Framework. Furthermore, you will coordinate Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) activities, monitor capital adequacy, and deliver strategic risk insights to the Board. Consequently, this executive leadership role is essential for protecting balance sheet strength and regulatory standing.
The Head – Enterprise Risk Mgmt requires a fully or nearly qualified Actuary (IAI, IFoA, SOA) or a certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM) with deep life insurance risk governance experience. Partnering closely with the Actuarial Function, Investments, and Underwriting, you will evaluate financial risks (market, credit, ALM), insurance risks (mortality, persistency, reserving), and emerging threats like cyber risks and AI governance. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework, enterprise risk registers, RCSAs, and KRI monitoring.
- Coordinate the annual Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) process and present comprehensive risk findings to the Board.
- Provide independent oversight and stress-testing analysis across financial risks: market, liquidity, credit, and ALM risks.
- Oversee core insurance risks, including underwriting, mortality, morbidity, persistency, expense, and catastrophe exposures.
- Collaborate with the Actuarial team on solvency monitoring, capital planning, reserve adequacy reviews, and experience studies.
- Identify, evaluate, and monitor emerging enterprise threats, including cyber vulnerabilities, AI adoption, and regulatory changes.
- Prepare executive risk dashboards and governance papers for Senior Management, the Risk Committee, and the Board of Directors.
- Drive risk culture initiatives across all corporate divisions, ensuring business decisions adhere to approved risk tolerances.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Quantitative Finance, or Risk Management.
- Mandatory professional credential: Fully or Nearly Qualified Actuary (IAI, IFoA, SOA) and/or certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM).
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in Life Insurance Risk Management, ERM, Actuarial Modeling, or Solvency Management.
- Comprehensive understanding of life insurance products, actuarial valuations, solvency regulations, ALM, and ORSA guidelines.
- Exceptional leadership, board-level communication, quantitative analysis, and stakeholder management skills.
