A Leading Life Insurance Company is seeking an analytical Equity Research Analyst to join its core investment management vertical in Pune. In this critical buy-side research role, you will take full ownership of fundamental coverage and stock recommendations across the BFSI domain, including Banks, NBFCs, Insurance, and AMCs. Furthermore, you will build granular financial models and structural forecast engines to identify investment horizons that generate alpha. Consequently, this position is vital for supporting fund managers and maximizing portfolio yields in a fast-paced market environment.
The Equity Research Analyst must combine deep corporate accounting insights with an agile data-gathering mindset across primary and secondary channels. Additionally, you will drive earnings-season expectation analytics, deliver timely impact reports on regulatory changes, and regularly interface with top-tier corporate managements. Therefore, the group is looking for a finance professional who communicates complex valuation narratives clearly to senior executive committees. Key Responsibilities
- Maintain full, detailed investment research coverage for a dedicated portfolio of at least 35 BFSI sector companies.
- Construct, update, and stress-test comprehensive Excel financial models with built-in sensitivity parameters for fund managers.
- Perform rigorous primary and secondary data mining across annual filings, regulatory data releases, and earnings statements.
- Formulate structured investment notes and articulate stock exposure proposals clearly to the fund management team.
- Lead pre-earnings metric projections and publish comprehensive quarterly results analysis highlighting performance deviations.
- Conduct structured impact analysis on macro trends, systemic credit/deposit growth, and central bank policy changes.
- Establish low-touch monitoring over an additional 15-20 adjacency corporations to map broad thematic sector shifts.
- Coordinate regular quarterly interactions with target company CEOs and CFOs, sell-side analysts, and field distributors.
- Support the Chief Investment Officer and fund managers with data components for investor marketing presentations.
- Oversee the investment group’s unlisted asset exposures within the BFSI landscape and handle ad-hoc technical initiatives.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Postgraduate degree qualification, preferably an MBA in Finance, or professional certification lines such as CFA or FRM.
- 4-5 Years of successful experience operating as a research analyst across Buy-Side, Sell-Side, AIF, or PMS platforms.
- Proven track record tracking the BFSI landscape, with deep structural knowledge of banking operations and NBFC models.
- Technical proficiency navigating terminal frameworks like Bloomberg alongside advanced spreadsheet calculations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication mechanics to defend investment hypotheses before senior leadership.
