Key Responsibilities for the Accounting Specialist
- Execute end-to-end reinsurance accounting and reporting activities for month-end and quarter-end closures.
- Prepare complex reinsurance journal entries and provide detailed analysis to validate financial results.
- Manage reinsurance premium settlements and claims collections to ensure timely statement updates for clients.
- Apply cash and payments to appropriate reinsurers to maintain accurate balances with external parties.
- Collaborate with Treasury and Capital teams to manage reinsurer collateral and maintain appropriate capital levels.
- Perform key account reconciliations to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the reinsurance balance sheet.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statement disclosures and regulatory reporting for insurance regulators.
- Evaluate current accounting processes and propose automated solutions to reduce manual effort and increase efficiency.
- Provide strategic insights and data-driven recommendations to leadership regarding reinsurance performance.
- Implement and improve key internal controls to ensure high-quality financial reporting and audit readiness.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Completed CPA designation is a mandatory requirement for this specialized accounting role.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience within the insurance or financial services sector.
- Proven ability to identify and resolve issues in complex financial situations through expert problem-solving.
- Strong oral and written communication skills to turn around technical information quickly and accurately.
- Demonstrated experience working in fast-learning environments that require high agility and adaptability.
