A leading life insurance company is seeking a strategic and execution-oriented Vice President – Learning Content & Academy Development to join its Mumbai corporate office. The Vice President must possess deep subject-matter expertise in the life insurance domain. Additionally, you will lead the development of end-to-end curricula, including digital learning assets and complex simulations. Key Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize and develop high-quality technical content relevant to products, underwriting, and actuarial concepts.
  • Create end-to-end learning curricula, including facilitator guides, participant manuals, and digital assets.
  • Ensure all content remains academically sound, industry-aligned, and updated based on regulatory changes.
  • Lead the establishment of a structured Learning Academy, including certification models and governance frameworks.
  • Deliver select critical and advanced programs personally where deep subject-matter expertise is required.
  • Act as the master trainer and faculty anchor for flagship programs under the proposed Academy framework.
  • Leverage industry networks to onboard and manage external vendors, academic institutions, and experts.
  • Evaluate external faculty and curated programs to ensure cost-effectiveness and high-quality delivery.
  • Collaborate with business heads and functional leaders to translate capability gaps into learning solutions.
  • Provide periodic updates to the Chief of L&D regarding academy progress, content maturity, and learning impact.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Post-graduate degree in Management, Insurance, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 15 to 20 years of experience in Learning & Development or Technical Training.
  • Prior experience in setting up or managing structured learning academies is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience working with external vendors, faculty, and global academic institutions.

Technical Skills and Competencies

  • Strong technical expertise in the Life Insurance and Financial Services domains.
  • Proven capability in academic-grade content creation and instructional curriculum design.
  • Effective training delivery and facilitation skills for advanced-level professional audiences.
  • Strategic thinking ability combined with a hands-on approach to project execution.
  • Strong networking and vendor management capabilities to build a diverse expert ecosystem.
  • High level of conceptual clarity, articulation, and advanced instructional design skills.

Professional Certifications

While not mandatory, professional certifications in the following areas will be considered an added advantage:

  • Professional Insurance certifications (III, LOMA, etc.).
  • Advanced Learning & Development or Instructional Design certifications.
