Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive equity research across public banks, private financial groups, and specialized lending institutions.
- Monitor critical banking industry indicators, including net loan credit growth, deposit indices, and systemic liquidity trends.
- Track regulatory policy modifications introduced by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to evaluate banking book impacts.
- Analyze macroeconomic data points, covering GDP tracking, local inflation spikes, and interest rate cycles.
- Perform micro fundamental analysis of listed banking entities, analyzing competitive positions and market shares.
- Evaluate corporate financial statements, checking net interest margins (NIMs), return ratios, and provisions allocations.
- Build, calibrate, and maintain granular financial models, earnings forecasting sheets, and relative valuation scripts.
- Examine asset quality metrics, tracking gross and net non-performing assets (NPAs) alongside capital adequacy indices.
- Regularly attend analyst meets, investor conferences, and face-to-face interactions with bank CEOs, CFOs, and controllers.
- Advise fund managers on immediate portfolio actions, including stock entry setups, profit booking guidelines, and exit decisions.
Requirements and Qualifications
- MBA / PGDM in Finance, or a Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or CFA Charterholder.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience operating as a Banking Sector Equity Research Analyst.
- Proven tracking record on the buy-side, preferably within an Asset Management Company (AMC) or Life Insurance firm.
- Deep structural understanding of banking financials, valuation frameworks, and central bank regulatory frameworks.
- Advanced command over spreadsheet calculations, data visualization tools, and research terminals like Bloomberg.
